ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE
Passive forms : be + past participle
Be verbs : is, am, are, was, were, has been, have been, was being, were being, will be, shall be, might have been etc.
By : We use 'by' before the person or thing who is doing the action.
e.g. The hunter killed the lion. ( active )
The lion was killed by the hunter. ( passive )
Indirect object as the subject :
e.g. Someone sent her a cheque for a thousand dollars.
She was sent a cheque for a thousand dollars.
learn by examples :
- Beautiful giraffes roam the Savannah.
The Savannah is roamed by beautiful giraffes. - Harry ate six shrimp at dinner.
At dinner, six shrimp were eaten by Harry. - Sue changed the flat tire.
The flat tire was changed by Sue. - We are going to watch a movie tonight.
A movie is going to be watched by us tonight.
